Spectro 2 Wire Loop Review and Installation- Video

Spectro 2 Wire Loop Review and Installation

Hi they do it yourselfers, today we're going to be taking a look at Spectro's 2 Wire Loop. This 2 Wire Loop will allow you to add a quick connect to any of your accessories that require two wires on your trailer. If you look at our ends here, the male exposed end on the connectors on one of them is connecting to our brown wire, and on the other is connected to our red wire. You can cut this harness in half, and then wire one end up on your trailer side, and then wire the other end up on your accessory, so that way when you plug them together, as you see here when we go to plug them together, that our wires match up red to red, brown to brown. So we're going to go ahead and wire it up now. We've got a couple of different lights here, so this way we can easily disconnect our light assemblies in case we have any damage that occurs to them, like we back up into something on accident. But you'll see here that on one light, we've just got bare wires, so we can cut it in half, wire one into our trailer, the other into our light. more

Hopkins 2-Pole Flat Wiring Extension Review and Installation

Hi there, do it yourselfers. Today we're going to be taking a look at Hopkins two wire plug. Our wiring harness comes with a connector on each end. If you look at these, you'll see that the exposed male end on one side has a red wire, and the exposed to male end on the other connector has a white wire. This is so you can cut it in half here and wire off one side onto your trailer, and the other side can wire up onto an accessory, such as our light here, which will allow it to easily disconnect from our trailer. Some of the lights that you can purchase out there already come with one end, but your trailer might not have a connector on it. So you can use this to wire in the appropriate connection that you'll need to plug into those lights, right onto your trailer. more

Hi, I'm Shane with etrailer.com. Today I'm going to walk through how to install the Hopkins Active Taillight Converter Kit on your 2010 Land Rover/Range Rover Sport. Hopkins Endurance Easy-Pull Wiring Harness Review

Adam: Hi, everyone, Adam, with etrailer.com, today we're going to be taking a look at the Hopkins Endurance Easy-Pull Flat 4-Pole Connector. So, whether you're just replacing your existing wiring, or if you just need a little bit of upgrade, this is definitely going to be easier to get them disconnected. One thing I did notice over time, which is probably why my connection went bad. I have to sit here and kind of wiggle it back and forth to get it on done every time, but this way I can just connect this like so, then whenever I'm done, I can use this hole here and just pull straight out. I think it's definitely going to add to the longevity of my connection and just basically keep the life a little longer, so don't have to keep replacing my 4-pole. So, if you're hauling stuff during the winter, this hole is big enough to where you're going to be able to get even the bulkiest of gloves through that hole, so you can just pull that right out pretty simply. So, whenever you're not using your trailer as well, we could utilize this hole here just to kind of keep it up and off the ground. more

Review of Hopkins Wiring - Wiring Adapters - 37185

Today, we're going to take a look at the Hopkins 4-way to a 7-way and 4-way adapter. Now this adapter will convert from your 4-way wiring on your vehicle to give you this 7-way round plug and the 4-way flat wiring for your trailer side. Aside from your three main lighting functions that you'll get with the 4-way you have, this will add additional wire leads for electric brakes, 12 volt power and accessory wiring. The wire functions: the white wire, these actual wires here, that you'll get, will be a white wire and that will have an eyelid on it, that's for a ground. The blue wire right here, the blue wire with the connector on it, that's the output wire on your brake for your brake controller. The black one with the connector, that's for your 12 volt power supply. You connect this to the battery with a fuse or a circuit breaker. more

Hopkins Endurance Easy-Pull Y-Harness Review

Randy: Hey guys, it's Randy here at etrailer.com. Today we're taking a look at a Y-Harness from Hopkins. This is their Endurance Easy-Pull. As you can see quite a bit different than what a standard four pole flat is going to be, gives us a spot to actually be able to put our finger in there. It gives us a lot more purchase when we go to pull this out of our vehicle. I really like it, it saves a lot of that twisting back and forth that you get, most of the time or after a while anyway, that's going to damage one of your three signal lines that come in, or it can cause you to break your ground stud off inside there. more

Curt 4 Pole to 7 Pole and 4 Pole Adapter Review

Hi there, towing enthusiasts. Today, we're going to be taking a look at Curt's 4-way Adapter to 7-Way and 4-Way with Test Light. As you can see here, our trailer has a 7-way connector but our vehicle used to only have a 4-way connector. With this adapter, we are able to break it out and have a 4-way and a 7-way so we can fit our plug in, because without it it's like trying to fit a round peg in a square hole. When comparing this to other similar adapters, the things that I like about this one over those is that it has both the 7-way and the 4-way. Some are just an adapter at the back that will allow you to plug your 4-way into it, giving you a 7-way, but then you lose the functionality of your 4-way unless you we're to unplug it from your 7-way each time. I love having this breakout for your various accessories that you may use.Another feature that really stands out is the tester that's included in it. more

Rob: Rob here etrailer.com and today you're going to be taking a look at the Roadmaster 6 Wire Electrical Connector for the vehicle end on our 2018 ram 1500. Our Roadmaster socket is going to allow us to finish our wiring so we can get all the signals from our motor home and transfer it into our Ram so we can safely get down the road. Our six ways in and provide us with six pins on the inside so that way we have all of our lighting functions like our taillights, each turn signal, and our brake lights. But it's also going to provide us with two more pins, that way we can add electric brakes or a 12 volt power source so we have a lot of options of what all we can hook up.Our cap is going to be spring loaded, so it's going to make sure that it closes whenever we're not using it and it's going to have a nice gasket there so it'll keep all that dirt, debris, and moisture out of the pins and hopefully prevent any kind of corrosion. Now on the door. You'll also notice there's this little tab. If I take my six way cord and I plug it in, you can see the tab's in a grabbed the edge of the cord there, that way it can't get pulled out unless you intentionally open the door and then pull the cord out.Our Roadmaster six way plug is gonna be a great addition to a flat Tow setup, that way we complete our tow bar wiring and we can get all those signals to the back or, if you just need to replace you're six way on an existing vehicle. Now keep in mind it's only going to be one component you need for a complete safe flat tow setup. more

Draw-Tite 7 Pole Adapter Review

Hey guys, the Randy here at etrailer.com. You know customers often ask us how they can get 12 volt power at the back of their vehicle and there are a lot of different ways to do that. What we're looking at today, this is an adapter, this is going to go right into your 7 pole plug and it provides us with two 12 volt plugs that we can use for just about anything that we'd want. This is going to work out really well, whether you're camping, out on a picnic, tailgating or in an emergency situation, say one of our trailer tires here needed some air, a typical 12 volt compressor isn't going to reach all the way back there, but by putting this in the back of the vehicle, just going to slide right in, light comes on indicating we've got live 12 volt outlets right here, so we can plug whatever it is in and get that back to our trailer or maybe we're tailgating and we want our 12 volt cooler or 12 volt refrigerator hooked up.In camping situations it can be really nice to plug this into your vehicle, parked pretty close to the tent, and then just use an extension to go into your tent. Now, in whatever situation you're going to be using it in, you can power all kinds of accessories, we can even put a small inverter into this and charge up laptops, or we can charge up any kind of technology that uses a straight household style plugin or cell phones. I really don't like when I'm sitting on the tailgate somewhere, listening to the dogs around or whatever the case is having to get into my phone or into my car to grab my phone if it's on the charger and bring it back here, you can power refrigerators, you can power coolers if you're tailgating, if you're camping, you can use an extension to get 12 volt power into your tent. And this is going to eliminate the need for running any of those cords through the windows and leaving our window cracked or running them through our door jam and slamming our door on them, which can do damage, this gives us exactly what we need, right out here, where it's really accessible and easy to get to. more

Hi there Audi owners. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the best vehicle wiring options for our 2017 Audi Q7. Here, we have our two best wiring options. The option on the left is the one from Curt 00:00:11 and the option on our right is the one from Tekonsha 00:00:13.In most aspects, these wiring harnesses are gonna be basically identical, but there are a few minor differences between them and we'll cover those now. This is our Tekonsha harness and as you can see, the module is relatively small, which is nice to be able to fit it into smaller areas. Versus our Curt here, which is quite a bit larger. As you can see here on our 2014 Audi Q7, we've got the smaller Tekonsha module installed and we're able to take our wiring and tuck it all up into the little compartment behind our taillight. Whereas if we we're using our Curt, the Curt itself would take up just about all the space inside of our compartment here leaving no place for our wiring, which would require us to have to route it into another location and store it somewhere else making a lot more work for us.I will say, however, the Curt does have a higher output at five amps on the stop turn circuit, while our Tekonsha only has 4.2 amps on the stop turn. more

Hi there, Audi owners! Today, we're going to be taking a look at the best vehicle wiring options for our 2015 Audi Q7.Here we have our two best wiring options. The option on the left is the one from Curt and the option on the right is the one from Tekonsha. And in most aspects, these wiring harness are going to be basically identical, but there are a few minor differences between them and we'll cover those now. This is our Tekonsha harness and as you can see, the module is relatively small which is nice to be able to fit it into a smaller area versus our Curt here, which is quite a bit larger. As you can see here on our 2014 Audi Q7, we've got the smaller Tekonsha module installed and we're able to take our wiring and tuck it all up into the little compartment behind our tail light.Whereas if we we're using our Curt, the Curt itself would take up just about all the space inside of our compartment here, leaving no place for our wiring which would require us to have to route it into another location and store it somewhere else, making a lot more work for us.I will say, however, the Curt does have a higher output at five amps on the stop-turn circuit while our Tekonsha only has 4.2 amps on the stop-turn.They both offer 7.5 amps on the tail lights, so if you need that higher output for your stop and turn circuits on your trailer, if you've got a lot of lights, big light bars through your tail light assemblies, then the Curt may be the better option for you.Other than that, our harnesses are basically identical. They're going to have the same outputs to make the connections to your vehicle. You're going to get length of wire to run it to your battery. You'll have your fuse protection and they're both going to come with quick splices, zip ties, and sticky pads to get everything mounted up.Regardless of which module you choose, you will have to quick splice your wiring into your existing wiring on your vehicle. more

Tekonsha Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2014 Audi Q7- Video

Tekonsha Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2014 Audi Q7

Today we're gonna be installing Tekonsha's Heavy Duty ModuLite Vehicle Wiring Harness for your 2014 Audi Q7. This wiring harness is gonna provide you with all the necessary lighting that you'll need on your trailer to be DOT compliant in all states. This includes your left turn signal, right turn signal, tail lamps and brake lamps. This way you can be ensured that when you're going on your vacations, trips, or just doing work around the area, that you're gonna be safe and everybody around you is gonna know what your intentions are 'cause they'll be able to see all of your turn signals. What's nice about this system is you not only get the wiring and everything you need to get it connected, but there's a module that's installed in your harness that monitors the signals that are going to it, and the module itself is what sends it out to our four pole connector. What's nice about this is if there is any faults on your trailer, the module will shut it down, and prevent any damage from occurring to the wiring on your vehicle. As a further step of protection, there's a fuse that's installed in your harness, so if the module does not shut the circuit down in time, the fuse will open for your wiring harness and nothing else on your vehicle will be affected. Now when you're all done using your harness, it's gonna live inside the vehicle. more

This adapter's gonna allow you to take your four pole wiring on your MDX, and convert it to five pole wiring. Five pole wiring is a lot less common than your four pole wiring, so you typically don't find kits out there that just install straight five pole wiring. But if you're trailer does have a five pole, and you need this simply plugs in. And to get those reverse lights working you can take blue wire and route it your reverse lamp circuits on your vehicle. MaxxTow Trailer Connector Adapter Review- Video

MaxxTow Trailer Connector Adapter Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at Maxxtow's seven way to four way trailer connector adapter. This adapter is going to allow you to take your seven pole connector that's on your vehicle and convert it to a four pole connector. This can be useful for a lot of different reasons. As our example that we have here, our trailer only has a four pole connector, so the only way we can get those lights to work on our trailer is by using an adapter.Another common use is to use this for your flat tow setup. If you don't have a breaking system installed in your vehicle, and you just have lights, you only have a four pole connector on your vehicle, and you only have your seven pole here on your RV. In order to get those lights to work on your vehicle, we can use this adapter, it can stretch out to reach the cable that's on our vehicle, and provide us with that necessary lighting.Or, if you do have an all-removable type flat two setup where you're using a removable breaking system, like the Patriot and magnetic lights, this can be a great option to get those magnetic lights powered up. more

The resettable short circuit and overload protection safeguards itself and the tow vehicle against harmful electrical shorts and miss-wire situation. So it's designed to automatically reset. It virtually eliminates draw on the vehicle's taillight circuit. So the taillight circuit has been upgraded to work with vehicles using pulse with modulation. That's going to allow the converter to fully turn on giving the trailer lights full brightness during activation. It powers the trailer's stop, turn, tail, and running lights directly from the tow vehicle's battery. more
